Climate
The Southeast region has the tropical climates, high altitude tropical and subtropical coastal and humid.

The tropical climate prevails in the coastal lowlands of Espirito Santo and Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and western Sao Paulo. Shows high temperatures (annual average 22 ° C) and two defined seasons: a rainy season, which corresponds to the summer and other dry, corresponding to winter. The tropical climate of altitude, which occurs in the higher portions of the relief, characterized by mild temperatures (annual average of 18 ° C).

The subtropical climate, which appears in the southern state of Sao Paulo, is marked by well distributed rainfall during the year (average annual temperatures around 16 ° C to 17 ° C) and a wide temperature range. We still have, in northern Minas Gerais, the semi-arid climate, warmer and less humid, with annual dry season of five months or even more in the valleys of the rivers São Francisco and Jequitinhonha.

In the Southeast, as in any region, temperatures suffer the decisive influence of geographical position, ie latitude, topography and altitude and also maritimidade. Thus, the regions of the Jequitinhonha Valley and Vale do Rio Doce both in northern Minas Gerais and northern Espírito Santo, located in areas of low latitudes and altitudes modest, have warmer weather. Serra do Mar already has the highest humidity of the region, because the bar passage of winds from the Atlantic, laden with moisture, rain only on the eastern side. The coast is also naturally more humid, influenced by maritimidade.
The lowest temperatures are recorded in the region of the mountain peaks Mantiqueira positioned between MG / SP, MG, RJ and MG / ES, which has close altitudes of 3000m and therefore are subject to snowfalls.
